You want to stop reacting in anger towards your kids, but you don’t feel powerless.

I’m GinaMother of three beautiful children.

I also have anger problems.

It’s hard to believe. However, I am willing to admit that it is because many of you also struggle with it.

It’s actually the #1 thing moms tell me that they are working on.

It can be frustrating to feel powerless and helpless when this happens.

An old pattern I have is that I fall into a cycle where anger, impatience and guilt are followed by shame. Ick.

I’ve talked to a lot of moms about this problem we share, and the general consensus many come to is that they should just…try harder.

But that doesn’t work! It’s futile to depend on our own willpower to achieve change.

One wise man once said, “Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.”

I’ve done a lot of praying, researching and soul-This topic is being searched. I was looking for more Spirit-led in my parenting, exhibiting the fruit that Galatians 5:22–23 talks about: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

But that fruit doesn’t come from me, no matter how hard I try. It comes through Christ living in me.

I don’t need to pursue the fruit; I need to stay in the vine. Because of this understanding, I’ve had some of the best reflective Bible studies and prayers of my life that have translated into a whole new way to think about my interactions with my kids.

It’s the best thing? It works. While I’m not perfect, I’ve had much more personal success diffusing my frustrations when they arise and preventing situations that trigger my anger in the first place.
